Zoe Saldana's parents, Asalia and Aridio Saldana, were born on 19 June 1978, in Passaic New Jersey. Her father was Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. She was raised by her mother in Queens. When she was 10, she and her parents moved to Dominican Republic. They lived in the Dominican Republic for seven more years. Zoe's interest in dance was spurred by the time they were living in the Dominican Republic. Zoe started her dance learning at ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy.
